LINXON-LX218 is a portable, high-performance Helium Leak Detector. It is manufactured by Inficon, Germany. It uses mass spectrometer to measure mass of helium leaking from the product being tested. It can be used in vacuum mode as well as sniffing mode. It is extremely reliable and fast in sensing leaking helium. It is one of the best products available in market.
The LINXON-LX218 Helium Leak Detector employs a mass spectrometer to measure the mass of helium in a given environment. Since the equipment is capable of measuring quantum of helium in terms of mass, it can be used for leak testing by using Helium as a tracer gas. The leak detector can be used in Vacuum Environment (Vacuum Mode) or at Atmospheric Pressure (Sniffing mode). Since the mass spectrometer can also be tuned to measure mass of Hydrogen, it can also be used for Hydrogen leak detection.
LINXON-LX218 can detect any type of leak. With Helium as a tracer gas, it can be used to detect leaks by employing hard vacuum method. Within hard vacuum concept, one can either employ inside-out leak testing in vacuum environment or go for Spraying method. LINXON-LX218 can also be used for sniffing.
With these many leak testing options, LINXON-LX218 can be used for detecting leaks in welding joints, brazing joints, leaks caused by porosity and cracks in aluminium and other metal castings, leaks in plastic parts caused by cracks or moulding quality issues, leaks from various types of sealed joints such as flange joints, threaded joints.
Calibrating LINXON-LX218 Helium Leak Detector is quite easy due to its automated calibration process. The leak detector comes with an inbuilt internal calibrated leak that is used for mass spectrometer calibration. If required, external calibration can also be done by mounting a calibrated leak on the leak detector. Again, this is extremely easy process as the machine guides the operator through the process for manual activities and completes the calibration process in auto mode. Similarly, sniffer calibration can be done by using a sniffer calibrated leak. The leak detector saves three separate machine factors for these calibrations namely internal calibration, external calibration and sniffer calibration. Once the calibration is finished, it uses respective machine factor while measuring the leak depending upon selected mode of leak testing (Vacuum or Sniffing).
The LINXON-LX218 Helium Leak Detector is capable of detecting helium as well as Hydrogen. Both the gasses are very commonly used as tracer gas for leak testing. As far as helium is concerned, it can measure in He2, He3 and He4. Most commonly He4 is used as it is most easily available and stable form of helium. For measuring hydrogen, the leak detector mode needs to be changed to H2. On changing the mode, the leak detector needs to be calibrated with appropriate calibrated leak.
Using LINXON-LX218 Helium Leak Detector is extremely easy. As long as the operator is aware of the leak testing process and has necessary accessories, the leak testing can be done effortlessly. Certain features of the LINXON-LX218 such as auto zero, the ability to detect smallest of the leak, fast response time, an audible alarm as well as visual indicator makes it easy for the operator to use the leak detector even in the production environment.
While using the leak detector, it is important to select appropriate settings (such as sensitivity or mode) for optimal results.
LINXON-LX218 Helium Leak Detector requires minimal maintenance. It is important to ensure that the leak detector is stored and operated in clean, reasonably dry place with moderate temperatures. If these precautions are taken, the leak detector doesn’t need much maintenance. The accessories shall be maintained well. For example, the sniffer probe filters shall be replaced regularly and the sniffer probe should never be used without filters. The calibrations should be done regularly. The user should ensure that the vacuum pump oil is topped up and replaced as needed. The leak detector has certain high value critical components such as Turbo molecular pump. It has special bearings with special type of lubrication. These lubrication modules must be replaced as per schedule. This ensures that the high-cost component like Turbomolecular pump is protected against damages caused by excessive wear and tear.
